I'm having some clutch hydraulic issues! The clutch master cylinder on my recently purchased Seried 3 is dead and needs replacing. I ordered what I thought was the correct replacement, but now I've found that my car is fitted with a Series V hydraulic system and the pipe is too big (1/4" pipe) to fit my new master cylinder (the car is also fitted with a 1725 engine)! I've also notice that the pushrod is somewhat shorter and the fork end looks much narrower than the old one.

Could someone tell me if the Series V master cylinder is actualy still available to buy as I've read a lot of posts on the Sunbeam Owner Club of America forums suggesting that it's no longer available or is it OK to fit a Series 3 slave to match the new master cylinder? Any advice on how to proceed would be great as I'm not sure what to do and the car is stuck 30 miles from me on the previous owners driveway......

If you haven't already sourced what you are looking for ,you might like to try John Hayter, who supplies Alpine parts and knows the cars inside out. His tel no. 01775 670188. His ad is at the back ot the Horn mag.

Thanks for the relpy, but it's sorted now! I got hold of a Series V master cylinder quite easily in the end.

I've got a friend who lives in Mytchett, so I'm in the Frimley area quite often, but I've not seen another Alpine (yet)! Is there a local meet or something?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next pub meet will be at the same place, the Bells of Ouzeley in Old Windsor, on the 20th of March at 8pm.

I'm going to keep it as the 3rd Thursday in the month and at the same time and place, just to get some consistency going. The details on the whereabouts of the pub are below:
