I've just returned to the SAOC after a 20 year break.
I currently have 2 Alpines, both Series V Sports.
One is a very rusty Forest Green which I've owned for about 24 years.
It is very original but has been off the road for 20 years, and now needs a full restoration, which I don't have the time to do. (anyone interested in a project?)
The second is a newly acquired and very shiny Oxford Blue model (bought through the ads here on the SAOC, but only 8 miles away!) She's a real credit to her former owner, and is much admired wherever she goes.
It's great to be back on the road in an Alpine!

Hi, Barry

how are you getting on with the carbs? You were having a few probs at Beaulieu?? Have you had any success with any of the advice pointed at you when you had the bonnet open 'on the field'??

I posted a pic of mine in the 'New arrivals' section, I've since put the twin 40's in place!!! heh heh! Twisted Evil

Regards

Tim (We were in the caravan, with the mondeo Confused !!)

Tim

Unfortunately I haven't had time to look at my Alpine since Beaulieu.
(We did make it home okay though, the clutch and top hose both held out, and it was actually running a little better on the way back, I think we were doing almost 70mph at one stage!)
We were away camping last weekend and I've left my wife and children in the tent this week while I've been at work. I'm off to meet up with them again tomorrow so I doubt I'll have any spare time this weekend either.
It was good to speak to some Alpine owners and to get so much useful advice. I'm still undecided about rebuilding the carbs. I'm very tempted to just swap the engine for the Holbay & Webers sitting in my garage.
The rebuild kits and new filters will cost over a £100 with no guarantee it will improve the running. (I did the carbs on my old Alpine and it didn't really make much difference.) Decisions, decisions...

Had a look at the picture of your car, it's looking very nice.
7 years to restore, I'm glad to see you're not rushing it.
If you don't hurry up the first bits you did will need doing again!

See you next year!

Go for the Holbay Twisted Evil

Keep it original Smile

Oh I'm no help am I? Rolling Eyes

Mine has been a labour of love tho' A hobby to go at when time and money (and kids and Mummy) allow!!

I got a battery from the scappy last week, so I've managed to make lots of electric connections and make things work! I've got lights, reverse lights, wiper motor, overdrive (audible click, then another as I move the gearlever to 1st/2nd gate!),even directional indicators Cool But the heater blower has blown 5 fuses when I throw the switch to 'fast' Crying or Very sad

I've also had a radiator re-cored, with a boss welded on so I can put a modern electric switch in for the electric fan I got from the scrappy. (What over heating problem??!! Wink )

Yep, at this rate you might even see my CAR next year, Ha ha!!

regards

Tim
