Anyone got any tips or experience of fitting a Holbay 4 branch exhaust to an alpine? Measuring up it seems too wide i.e. it would foul the inner wing/chassis. I am told its a gain of around 10 bhp. Any views?

I can't offer any advice here I'm afraid, but I would also like to know if the Holbay exhaust will fit.
In the obligatory "boxes of bits" that came with my recently acquired Series V there is a recon Holbay block with Webers, inlet manifold, and 4 branch exhaust (which I assume came from the Holbay Hunter). The inlet manifold has been cut and welded to "straighten" it out for the vertical Alpine engine. The exhaust has also been cut and welded in a similar fashion, so the previous owner was certainly under the impression it would fit.
Are you measuring up a modified exhaust?

The one I've got (£20 e bay) is from a Hunter GLS. It hasn't been modified.I reckon the max gap between head and chassis is about 6" at the steering idler position, wheras the manifold is about 11". I know they fit because I've seen them in situ on cars at Tatton Park & Moffat shows, but I didnt realise they had been "cut & shut".
