I'm Steve, based in Surrey, a member since 1989, although Alpine related matters have taken a back seat for quite a few years due to home and family responsibilities.
I've just acquired an up and running Series 3 GT with the intention of taking part more actively in the Club again. However, the car has a dead servo and I am pondering whether to have a go at fixing it or buying one of the Lockheed units. I tried unsuccessfully to rebuild the servo on my previous Alpine but when it wouldn't work properly, ended up fitting a second hand Mark IIB type instead, and Graham Howard's article in the February Horn suggests that the rebuild kits are no better now.
Originality issues aside, does anyone have a view on which is the best option - new Lockheed or rebuilt Girling? Has anyone fitted a Lockheed unit - are there any problems? Many thanks.
Steve
