Hi.

Posted for Brad Robertson in St Marys Ontario Canada.

*****
I really want to see any pictures of Thistle Grey (Alpines) cars. I may be redoing my later series Alpine soon, I am very interested in the more "neutral" colours and want to know if this is one I would consider.

I have checked the database but cannot find a photo of an Alpine in this colour. So can anyone out there please post a picture of one on this topic.

Balmoral Gray on this link. Used on Series IVs

Many Thanks.

PS. Yes I know Thistle Grey was only used on Series Is.

The only Thistle Grey Series I I've ever seen was sitting in a scrap yard in a small town called Hurricane in the middle of Utah, when we were on holiday in the USA in 1989. I spoke to the scrap yard owner, and it had been in his family since new. It would have been worth saving as, due to the dry climate, it was completely intact apart from the interior, and had a hard top and wire wheels with the original three-ear spinners.

However, the Thistle Grey colour was a nondescript shade that looked the same colour as Halfords grey primer. Not very inspiring for a sports car, and presumably not popular either, as I've never seen another and Rootes dropped it as from the Series II's.

I think it was used on other Rootes cars though, as I saw a 1960 Minx advertised in Classic Car Weekly in April, described as Thistle Grey.
